‘What Is Going on Here?’ Ice Skater Stumbles Upon Grisly Scene

While ice skating in Alaska, one winter enthusiast came across a grisly scene—blood splattered in the snow at the bank of the frozen lake. The ice skater figured this was the result of a predator/prey interaction, and he took to social media to share some clues in hope his community could help him figure out what happened.

“Hunters and outdoors folks . . . What is going on here?” asked Luc Mehl in a Facebook post sharing multiple photos of the grisly scene. “ I spotted this kill site while ice skating on the Kenai Peninsula, Alaska.”

Mehl goes on to explain that he found no bones nor intestines. The only wildlife tracks he could see were from a fox and a raven. He did, however, find quite a bit of fur, and he guessed maybe it was from a Dall sheep. One confusing point is that Mehl says he didn’t observe any signs of dragging or transport of prey to this spot, suggesting the kill happened right there.

Some people in the comments section guess the predator was a human poacher, Bigfoot, or even a drone. The most popular opinion, however, seems to be that it was a wolf hunting a mountain goat.
