A mountain lion wandering around Teton Village in Wyoming became quite confused by the holiday decor earlier this week. A security camera caught the mountain lion sniffing around the entrance to a hotel before walking over to a fake deer set up in the snow. We imagine the cougar was thinking, “why does this look like a deer but doesn’t smell like one?”

“Spotted in Teton Village last night in front of @hotelterra,” wrote Teton Village Mix in an Instagram post sharing the security-cam footage. “A very confused mountain lion investigates the Christmas decor.”
The mountain lion not only sniffs at the fake deer but also puts its front paws around the deer’s neck to get a closer look. It’s pretty funny to watch the curious predator inspect the decoy.
