Two men, 59 and 37, died from exposure to winter weather after they went searching for Bigfoot in Skamania County, Washington. The men, both from Portland, Oregon, were due to return from their quest on Christmas Eve. When they did not return, a family member reported the men as missing, and a three-day search for them began on Christmas Day. Unfortunately, the Skamania County Sheriff’s Office reports that the search-and-rescue effort turned tragic when the team found the men deceased.
A press release from the Sheriff’s Office says the team first found the mens’ vehicle, and then a group of more than 60 people, along with search dogs and drones, began combing the area for the missing men. They found them, but it was too late.
“After a grueling, three-day search over difficult terrain and harsh weather conditions, the 59-year-old male and 37-year-old-male, both from Portland, Oregon, who were reported missing/endangered were located, deceased, in a heavily wooded area of the Gifford Pinchot National Forest,” says the Skamania County Sheriff’s Office. “Both deaths appear to be due to exposure, based on weather conditions and ill-preparedness.”
