Seattle Ice-Hockey Mascot Nearly Attacked by Grizzly Bear


While fly fishing in Alaska’s Katmai National Park, Seattle Kraken ice-hockey player John Hayden and the Kraken’s mascot, Buoy, had a scary encounter with a grizzly bear. At one point, the bear ran through the stream toward the hockey mascot as the group was trying to move away. Thankfully, the bear lost interest.

“A brown bear startled a Seattle Kraken mascot and others during a fly fishing outing in Alaska’s Katmai National Park on June 25, according to a video released by the team,” wrote KIRO 7 News. “The video shows Buoy, the Kraken’s mascot, quickly retreating as the bear rushes toward the group at Brooks Falls, a popular location for bear viewing in Katmai. No injuries were reported, and the encounter ended without incident.”
