“So I go for a run, and look what I found,” wrote Catherine, a foreigner living in Scotland, in her viral Instagram post. “Wait for it . . . ” Catherine films as she walks through an opening in a wooded path, revealing a gorgeous, huge castle in the misty distance. It looks like something straight out of a fantasy novel. The stunned runner says this “proof” that “Scotland just isn’t real.”
Catherine’s video went viral, with over 5 million viewers since she posted it on Valentine’s Day. Commenters express their awe, joking that the woman just walked into Narnia, a “fae trap,” or even Hogwarts.
While Catherine was likely genuinely surprised to find the castle’s silhouette through the foliage on her run, she probably knew a little bit more than she let on in the video. According to her Instagram profile, she’s a tour guide in Edinburgh. She’s also a history lover and scholar, so we guess that already she knew about this place and its unique history before she stumbled across this beautiful view of it.
Nevertheless, the view is so spectacular that it really does feel like you’re entering another world as you travel with Catherine through the woods. But be warned, watching this video will make you want to book a trip to Scotland ASAP.
