Wildlife Official Pulls Wild Coyote From Aldi’s Refrigerated Section

Aldi customers in Chicago, Illinois didn’t put a wild coyote on their shopping list, because why would a wild coyote be in an urban grocery store? Except there was a wild coyote in an urban grocery store on Monday, and, in case you were wondering, it was in the refrigerated section.

X user @EddieBarstool caught the moment a wildlife official pulled the coyote out of Aldi’s shelving unit on video, and his video went viral. Eddie wrote: “I was prepared to see him pull out a opossum or a raccoon. Did NOT expect that.”

The strange commotion went down at Aldi’s in Humboldt Park, a neighborhood on Chicago’s west side. ABC Chicago News reports that Chicago Animal Care and Control and Chicago police responded to the incident and “safely took custody of the coyote.” Animal control told ABC in a statement that Flint Creek Wildlife Rehabilitation will assess the animal for injuries before releasing it back into the wild (which is better than the cheese section, no doubt).
