A trail-cam video shared by Browning Trail Cameras shows a herd of elk on the move. But, what are they running from, exactly? If you wait for it, you just might catch a glimpse of the speedy predator that spooked this herd of elk. And you’ll certainly hear its eerie call.
“Wait for it . . . A herd of elk is running in the foreground, but towards the end of the video, you can see why if you look closely,” wrote Browning Trail Cameras in an Instagram post sharing the trail-cam footage. The company credits the throwback video from 2017 to Jonathan Harris.

In the comments section, some people say there’s nothing to see. But many others point out the flash of light brown in a clearing behind the lake right at the end of the video . . .

What Spooked the Elk?
The general consensus among people in this video’s comments section is that a mountain lion (or possibly more than one of them) caused the elk to run for their lives. Several people note that mountain lions make the eerie chirping noise you can clearly hear in the video.
