Utah Family Goes Wake Surfing in Yard After Heavy Rain

When life hands you lemons, make lemonade . . . and when life hands you a heavy rainstorm, why not go wake surfing in your front yard? At least, that was the motto a Utah family decided to live by after a bout of recent rain left their yard flooded.

Footage of family members wake surfing as the mom (Stacie Lifferth Dorius) slowly pulls them from the back of her vehicle through the flooded yard is making the rounds online. Many people are applauding Dorius for allowing her kids to make a core memory.

It wasn’t just the kids, either. Dorius told local news that her brother came over to go wake surfing, too, pointing out that now it was her turn to push him to do crazy things.

“A lot of water [was] coming into the yard nonstop [. . .] and my kids started playing in it, and I thought I think we can do one better, so I grabbed a ski rope and put it on the back of the car, and off we went,” Dorius told 40/29 News.
