In what the San Francisco Chronicle is calling a “uniquely wild stunt,” a skydiver jumped from a helicopter with a board strapped to his feet and then “rode” a bridge. In skateboarding terms, he did a grind . . . in the sky. Red Bull is calling it a “world-first skysurfing feat.”
“The Bay Bridge is now a destination for ‘skysurfing,’” wrote the SF Chronicle in an Instagram post. “A skydiver with a custom-made board strapped to his feet jumped from a helicopter hovering 5,500 feet above the bridge’s western span. Then, maneuvering with a parachute, he landed atop a suspension cable and rode it for several seconds — similar to the way a skateboarder would grind a curb — before floating down and landing on a barge waiting on the water below.”

Red Bull also shared the footage, simply saying: “he took the scenic route.”
Red Bull explains that the extreme athlete in the video is Sean MacCormac. The company claims he completed “the world’s first skysurf and grind across a bridge.”
