Trail Cam Footage of Clever Raccoon Goes Viral

A Portland, Oregon man set up a trail cam in his backyard in July, and a raccoon rewarded his efforts that very night with some antics that went viral. The raccoon went to walk across a fence, but when it discovered there was a rope tied to the fence, it took it upon itself to untie the rope and move it up and out of the way. It’s impressive to watch the clever raccoon work.

The trail-cam owner, Mark Graves, shared the footage on YouTube and across several social media platforms, gaining hundreds of thousands of views. With the help of the public, Graves says he named the clever raccoon “Knottingham.”

After seeing how skilled Knottingham was with ropes, Graves decided to add some more fun things for the raccoons to play with, like knots, a rubber ball, and small cedar board (scroll for that video).
