Trail Cam Captures ‘Silly’ Moment Black Bear Investigates Camera

The Nature Conservancy recently shared trail-cam footage of a black bear being silly. The bear playfully and curiously sniffs the camera and pushes it with its nose. The nonprofit organization posted the video as if it were a video call gone wrong.

“Curiosity caught on camera!” wrote The Nature Conservancy in its Instagram post sharing the footage. “A flash from a camera trap grabbed the attention of this black bear at Bridgestone Preserve on Chestnut Mountain. As a hub for research and hands-on restoration, this preserve helps shape conservation efforts across the southern Appalachians. Camera traps were set out to survey the wildlife that call this place home, capturing silly moments like this.”

The Bridgestone Nature Reserve at Chestnut Mountain in Tennessee is a sort of “living laboratory” for conservation efforts, which trail cameras help support. Though scientists typically do serious work using trail-cam footage, silly moments like this are fun, too!
