“He looks like an 8-year-old drew him,” wrote one person in the comments section of a video showing a Tibetan fox. A wildlife photographer shared a Reel on Instagram with several photos and videos of the “weird-looking” fox, and the netizens went wild.
The Tibetan fox (Vulpes ferrilata) may look like a cartoon character, but it’s a very real species that lives mostly in the steppes and semi-deserts of the Tibetan Plateau. It’s a mysterious animal, though, since scientists know relatively little about it.

Peter Yan is the wildlife photographer from Australia who captured the fox in all its glory. The animal’s large head and broad face seem too large for its body, but it’s strangeness is also quite endearing.

Controversy Over Baiting Wildlife
Besides all the comments about this unique fox’s appearance, netizens also slam Yan for wildlife baiting. At the beginning of the video, it seems like a man has placed something on the ground, which the Tibetan fox timidly snatches and eats. But is that what really happened? Unfortunately, we don’t know for sure.
Yan responds to one comment, saying the person accusing him of baiting has no idea what really happened and is making assumptions. However, he doesn’t provide an explanation.
