When a resident of Shingle Springs in northern California checked his security-camera footage, he didn’t find a dog using the doggy door. Nope, it was a cat. In fact, it was a mountain lion peeking through the doggy door into his home.

Local news reports that the man was “shocked” to see the wild cat’s face there, even though Shingle Springs is within mountain-lion territory. “California Department of Fish and Wildlife officials say the incident is uncommon but not unprecedented,” wrote CBS Sacramento in its Instagram post sharing the man’s photo.
