Safari Guide Stops Charging Elephant in Sri Lanka

You know a safari guide is dedicated to his job when an elephant comes charging at tour vehicles and he knows exactly what to do. Imaal Nanayakkara was on a tour in Sri Lanka’s Wasgamuwa National Park when an elephant charged at the vehicles, and his safari guide stepped in to make it stop.

When the elephant started running toward the group, a guide quickly opened the vehicle door, swung himself out, and started banging on the hood. Then, he raised his arm into the air as if to tell the massive elephant ,”Stop!” Shockingly, the elephant responded and ceased charging. Judging by the screaming in the background, the tourists weren’t sure the guide’s method would work, but clearly he knew what he was doing.

“Talk about an adrenaline rush!” wrote Nanayakkara in his Instagram post sharing the intense video. “Just as this elephant decided to chase us, our guide expertly stepped in to keep everyone safe. Nature can be wild, but that’s what makes it so unforgettable!”
