Paraglider Drops His Phone, and This Is What Happened Next

On behalf of moms everywhere, please, please never let this happen to you (or to your poor mother). Imagine this: A paraglider drops his phone, and then the phone notifies his emergency contacts with the worst news imaginable. (Oh nooooo.)

Videos by Outdoors

Micah Cruver was paragliding in Medellín, Colombia when his phone dropped out of his pocket. Then, in an attempt to be helpful, the phone notified Cruver’s mom that her son was likely involved in some sort of high-impact crash and that his location was a mountainside in Colombia. Cruver says he’d just told his mom that he was about to go paragliding, so you can imagine what the poor woman was going through until she learned that her son was not crushed on a mountainside alongside his device.

After Cruver landed, a friend informed him that he’d received a call from Cruver’s other emergency contact . . . and that’s when Cruver realized that his mom must have also received that notification. To put it simply, he wrote: “She was not happy.”

So, if you’re a paraglider, let this be a lesson: Secure your phone from unintended drops and save your loved ones from the scare of their lives.
