‘Massive’ Lynx Proves These Wild Cats Aren’t Just Cute Kitties

There’s a wide range of wild cats out there—from lions and tigers to jaguars and cougars to bobcats and sand cats. The elusive Canada lynx is one of those mid-size wild cats that doesn’t typically strike fear in the hearts of North American outdoor enthusiasts like, say, a mountain lion would. Adam Skalzub is a wildlife photographer who has captured incredible images of lynx in Canada. He shares photos of one lynx in particular—a “massive” male lynx named Thick Rick—on social media, including an intimidating photo of the animal giving Skalzub an intense death stare. In some photos, the animal appears to have just finished eating a bloody meal.

Skalzub says Thick Rick is the biggest lynx he’s ever seen. Thankfully, no matter how large it is, a lynx typically isn’t a threat to humans.
