Professional kiteboarder Giel Vlugt nearly collided with a couple of whales, and he caught the whole thing on video. Thankfully, neither kiteboarder nor whales were injured in the close call, leaving Vlugt with a cool video and a “pure stoke” moment he’ll never forget.

“Can’t believe this happened!!” wrote Vlugt in his Instagram post sharing the video. People in the comments section point out that it appears to be a mom whale and her calf, making the encounter even more special and rare.
