Huge Pond Packed With Bald Eagles

Christian Sasse is a wildlife photographer and bald eagle enthusiast, and he recently had an amazing experience when he stumbled across a pond absolutely filled with eagles. Sasse was shocked and excited to see such a sight, and he captured a video of the hoard of eagles, which he shared on Instagram in November.

“SUPER RARE,” wrote Sasse in an Instagram post sharing the video. “Just outside Vancouver, I stumbled upon an incredibly rare sight—a large pond filled with eagles. They were bathing, socializing, and almost seemed to be ‘chatting’ with one another. It was truly the most amazing experience I’ve ever had.”

Much of Canada’s bald eagle population lives in British Columbia, which is where Sasse says he was when he discovered this eagle aggregation, called a “convocation.” Amid the convocation, you can spot eagles of various ages. Bald eagles’ head plumage changes as the birds grow from juveniles to adults, gradually changing from brown to white.
