I’m not saying we should startle an armadillo by making fart noises, but I am saying that one man did, and the footage will make you laugh. The video shows an armadillo grazing alongside a road in Florida. A man tries to call to it, saying “hola!” He gets no response from the armadillo. Then, he makes a fart sound, and it definitely does respond (in the most hilarious way).
“Armadillos are allergic to farting sounds,” wrote @mishu8341, the TikTok user who originally shared the video in January. The viral video has been viewed over 4.6 million times and is still making rounds online as different outlets share it. The comments section suggests it’s making everybody laugh.
“I’ve watched this an unhealthy amount of times and have been laughing so hard I’m crying and gasping for air,” wrote one person.
Michu even wrote: “I recorded this video and I’m still watching and laughing.”

Nine-banded armadillos (Dasypus novemcinctus) are relatively common throughout the state of Florida. They can be a bit obnoxious, digging up flower beds and damaging lawns thanks to their constant rooting and burrowing. Perhaps next time you see one digging up your garden, you can make a fart noise to scare it away.
