Elephant Rams Boat After Giving Multiple Warnings

Is it just me, or is one single warning trumpet enough to move on when in the presence of the largest land animal on Earth? For one safari tour guide with a small boat full of tourists, it required several warning trumpets from an elephant wading through shallow water and a bluff charge before they finally moved on. A video of the frightening elephant charge (and massive “safari fail”) has a lot of people online shaking their heads.

Tourism News Africa shared the footage but doesn’t call out the tour company. In the video, a massive elephant trumpets, clearly annoyed. The tour guide says, “when she comes close, we’re going to zoom forward.” Except, they don’t. They let the elephant get closer and closer as it continues to trumpet out warnings. Then, it bluff charges and rams the boat.

“Really bad guiding,” wrote one person. “He put those people at serious risk. No way a proper guide would ever have let this situation happen.

“Animals will only resort to violence when their warnings are ignored and they think you’re a threat,” wrote another.
