A group of tourists on a whale-watching boat expected to see some wildlife in the Pacific Ocean, but they didn’t expect to see a bottlenose dolphin quite as close up as they did. The dolphin leapt into the air and whacked the side of the boat, shocking and delighting the whale watchers.
“A whale watching tour was in for a surprise when a bottlenose dolphin put on a show as it leaped towards their boat,” wrote local ABC 7 News in an Instagram post sharing the viral footage. “After a few leaps the dolphin slammed into the tour boat, luckily all the passengers and dolphin were okay!”

In the video, whale watchers screech, ooh, and ahh as dolphins leap into the air alongside their boat. Suddenly, one of the dolphins they were watching disappears from view. When it reappears, it’s in their face.
A bunch of people in the comments section express concern for the dolphin.
“But is the dolphin ok??? It was living [it’s] best life until we humans got in the way,” wrote one person.
