When a young boy named Jackson caught a smallmouth bass while fishing in the local river, he could not have been more excited. His mom recorded the moment Jackson walked out of the river holding his prize, and you can see the moment of realization as it sinks in that’s he’s caught a large smallmouth. The boy’s wholesome reaction to his fish is restoring some people’s faith in modern childhood.
“LOOK AT THAT SMALLMOUTH!! OH MY GOD!!” Jackson literally shouts.
He urges his mom to call his dad, but she tells him she’s still recording. Jackson is so pumped with adrenaline that he’s shaking as he tries to remove the fishing hook from the fish’s mouth.

Jackson’s dad posted the video on his Instagram page. The comments section praises Jackson and his parents for prioritizing outdoor activities like fishing.
“God bless this [boy’s] parents, for actually letting this boy live a great childhood,” wrote one person.
“I love that there [are] kids in this world addicted to fishing in real life vs a headset,” wrote another.
