You may already know that mountain lions can make a variety of noises, including chirps (and whatever this noise is), but what about baby mountain lions? Turns out, baby mountain lions make a very cute noise. If I hadn’t seen the noise come out of these little animals’ mouths with my own eyes, I’d assume it was coming from some sort of bird.
Trail-cam footage from wildlife conservation photographer Vishal Subramanyan shows a mother mountain lion and her two squeaking kittens, lifting the veil on what these little lions sound like. Even Subramanyan says the noise surprised him.

“These sounds aren’t from birds – they’re from baby mountain lions!” Subramanyan wrote in his Instagram post sharing the video. “I never knew mountain lion kittens sounded like this!”
