Caught on Trail Cam: Bobcat vs. Deer vs. Bobcat

A trail-cam video from a winery in Fremont, California caught a bobcat vs. a deer . . . vs. another bobcat. Mission Peak Wine shared the trail-cam footage from last May on Instagram, and, at first, it seemed like all three animals were going to get along. After a while, though, things started to heat up. Eventually, only one animal remained in the frame.

While bobcats usually choose to hunt smaller animals, they can take down a deer, such as the one in the video. According to the National Park Service (NPS), bobcats are carnivores that typically eat mice, ground squirrels, minks, rabbits, skunks, raccoons, birds, snakes, frogs, etc. However, they can also take down small ungulates such as young deer, elk, and pronghorn, especially those that are young or injured.
