Body-Cam Footage Shows Moment K-9 Unit Finds Missing Hunter


An officer and his K-9 partner located a missing hunter in the Holey Land Wildlife Management Area of Palm Beach County, Florida, and a body cam caught the moment on video. The K-9 unit, Rambo, captured the missing man’s scent from the door handle of his van before tracking him down amongst the thick vegetation.

“On Aug. 9, Officer Kevin Tarr and his K-9 partner, Rambo, got a call about a 65-year-old hunter [. . .] lost in Holey Land Wildlife Management Area,” wrote local WPTV News in an Instagram post sharing the body-cam footage. “Rambo [can] find missing people and also detect items like knives, guns and shell casings.”

Officer Tarr told WPTV that he and Rambo have been partners for four years. Rambo has had extensive training to reach this point.

Tarr expressed delight in finding the missing man, especially since he has diabetes. In fact, WPTV called it “a perfect rescue.” After finding the missing man’s scent, Officer Tarr and Rambo located the hunter within an hour and brought him to safety.
