Trail Cams Capture New Photos of Rare Jaguar in Arizona


Jaguars used to roam the southwestern United States, but today, they’re extremely rare, with only occasional sightings in regions that border Mexico. A team of scientists in Arizona recently shared five new trail-camera images of a male jaguar roaming the wilds of southern Arizona, all from this summer. The images prove there’s at least one wild jaguar in the United States right now.

AZ Central shared a couple of the images on social media, explaining that scientists believe this jaguar is the same one that has been living in the area for several years. The latest photos come from trail cameras operated by the University Of Arizona Wild Cat Research And Conservation Center.
