An alligator made its way to a local high school, and the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office had to intervene. Dramatic body-cam footage of what happened next is making the rounds on the internet, and many people note that the Florida deputy who wrangles the alligator is wearing a cowboy hat.
“Our deputies had to ‘expel’ an unexpected visitor from Parrish Community High School,” wrote the Sheriff’s Office in a Facebook post sharing the footage. The alligator doesn’t come easily, though. It hisses and puts up quite a fight. Eventually, the animal tires out, and the officers are able to grab its snout and put something around it to keep its dangerous jaws shut.

“Y’all make this look like you do this on the regular,” a bystander comments at one point in the video as the man in a cowboy hat ropes in the gator and then straddles it. “We do,” the deputy replies.
Despite it being just another day in Florida, the deputy notes at the end of the video that this was the biggest fight with a gator that they’ve had in a while. Thankfully, the Sheriff’s Office reports that the team safely relocated the gator to a more “suitable environment.”
