An alligator smashed through a screen door and made its way into a Fort Myers, Florida home over the weekend. The homeowner, Paul Quinn, told local news that when he discovered the gator staring at him from inside the dining-room area, he thought, “Ah crap, I’ve gotta deal with this today?”

Quinn says he’d left the sliding glass door open to let a breeze in the house. The 7-foot alligator apparently made a hole in the screen door and came right in, settling in what appears to be a dining room. Quinn called authorities for help, but the gator didn’t go easily. As officials wrangled the animal out, it bit off a chunk of one of the dining-room chairs.
