Aussie Hiker Missing for 2 Weeks Found in ‘Remarkable Condition’

Hadi Nazari, 23, an Aussie hiker from Melbourne went missing just after Christmas after separating from his hiking companions in Kosciuszko National Park, which is in the Australian state of New South Wales. Nazari got lost and survived for two weeks on “two muesli bars, foraged berries, and creek water” before search-and-rescue crews recovered him.

Nazari reportedly traveled about 6 miles from where he initially separated from his group and faced steep, challenging terrain along the way. He finally came across some hikers on Wednesday, and they helped him.

“What a moment!” wrote the NSW Police Force in an Instagram post sharing the happy news. “[Here’s NSW Police Force Aviation Command] with missing bushwalker, Hadi [. . . ] We’re so happy to have you back.”

The missing hiker was dehydrated but in relatively good health and spirits upon rescue. One first responder told ABC News that “[Nazari was] in remarkable condition for a person who’s been missing for so long.”
