What in the World Is This Animal? Reddit Weighs in

A Reddit user posted a video of an animal that looks straight out of fantasy world and asked others to help identify it. Some people express confusion and ask if it’s AI or a real animal. Most people believe it’s something called a Damascus goat, except it has some unique spiral horns, leading some to believe it’s a hybrid. Have you ever seen anything like this?

In the video, a long-haired ungulate stands in a wild area. It seems uninterested in the person filming as it turns its head from one side to the other. The animal’s face is a conundrum. It looks like a goat, but the top of its snout isn’t concave, it’s quite convex, making its head shape look like a square from the side profile.

Damascus goats, a goat breed native to Syria, have this head shape. But if this is a Damascus goat, what’s with this animal’s very twisty horns? Why does it have such a long coat?

Some commenters suggest this animal is a hybrid between a Damascus goat and another animal, like a markhor (a wild goat species with spiral horns) or a Girgentana (a domesticated goat species that has spiral horns).
