Earlier this week, a Simi Valley, California man had a wildlife encounter he’ll never forget—except he wasn’t outdoors; he was inside his home. A coyote entered the man’s home and began attacking his pet dog. The man stabbed the coyote to save his dog’s life. The description below is a bit graphic, but know that both the man and his dog survived.
“I was in the shower upstairs and I heard my dog screaming downstairs. I ran downstairs and a coyote was in the house tearing her apart,” the unidentified man told a 911 operator. “I cornered it and stabbed it with a knife, but it bit me many times.”
Fox 11 News shared the man’s 911 call on its YouTube channel. The audio suggests the man is out of breath and scared, but he’s trying his best to stay calm. He recounts the story to the operator and even explains how he believes the coyote got inside his house.
Fox 11 says the coyote died, but the dog and the man both survived their wounds.
